Karla Rimaitis - Innovating Healthcare with Sketchnotes
Karla Rimaitis (@KRimaitis) comes to us from England where she applies her skethnoting prowess to innovating on and improving the quality of healthcare.
Would you share with us you’re sketchnote journey look?
After completing a fine art degree alongside working for the NHS I was hoping to find a strong link between art and health...but it wasn’t so easy. I continued to develop my passion of drawing during my PGCE whilst researching the impact of visual learning on students. The impact was HUGE! Students retained more information, learned quicker and understood more complex information. Since then I have started working for The Innovation Agency in the North West Coast (@innovationnwc) who have embraced this method of communicating and have really enabled me to practice at every chance I get! I love making complicated theories and ideas into simple pictures and always ask my participants for feedback and guidance. It’s all about collaboration. I love my job!!!! I am able to use humour, everyday objects and colour to connect more people to these essential ideas.
I use a bamboo slate and my IPad to create these images I am still learning how to capture information quickly so tend to do most of the design after sessions have taken place but I am getting there.
I’d like to think that where ever you are in your journey is where you were meant to be, and by the look at your sketchnotes, you are in a great place! Thanks for sharing your journey Karla!
